Guest Lecture

Last week, we had a great guest lecture from a uniformed officer and a special agent from the United States Secret Service. This week, we will be welcoming David Arinella, Chief Probation Officer of East Boston District Court, to campus for a guest lecture. We only have two weeks of classes left, and then it is time to wrap up the semester with final exams. The semester flew by!

Mock Oral Arguments

On March 30th and April 1st, my Civil Right and Liberties class will be participating in a mock United States Supreme Court Oral Arguments event. Faculty from various departments at the college will be serving as U.S. Supreme Court Justices. Students will be debating constitutional issues related to sex offender registries, death penalty, and abortion. My students have been working hard on their oral arguments, and I can't wait to hear these issues debated before our honorable justices (a.k.a. our fabulous Bay State College Faculty Members)!

I am very excited about the guest lecture from an FBI Agent this coming Monday (March 1st). It should prove to be an interesting lecture!

Guest Lectures

Last week, a special agent from Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) gave an amazing guest lecture to our Justice Society students. We are looking forward to a guest lecture from a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigations on March 1st. Keep watching for more guest lectures on campus.

Criminal Justice

I am very excited about the start of the Spring 2010 semester, and I am anxious to have the students return to campus (it is too quiet on campus without the students). The winter break provided me with the opportunity to visit family in Michigan and catch up on some reading. If anyone is looking for something new to read, I highly recommend F. Lee Bailey's When the Husband is the Suspect. The book includes, but is not limited to, coverage of the Scott Peterson, Sam Sheppard and O.J. Simpson cases. The book is interesting and a quick read.
